In a bid to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities, the Pentagon revealed a new arms package worth $300 million on Wednesday. The package includes vital air defense systems and tens of millions of rounds of ammunition.
According to the Defense Department, this recent shipment will bring the total value of security assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February 2022 to an impressive $37.6 billion.
In a statement, the Pentagon emphasized its commitment to collaborating with allies and partners to equip Ukraine with the necessary capabilities to address immediate battlefield requirements and ensure long-term security assistance.
The United States has been at the forefront of an unparalleled international endeavor, spearheaded by NATO and other allied nations, to furnish Ukraine with weaponry and various forms of aid.
These new arms deliveries coincide with Ukraine's preparations for a counter-offensive aimed at reclaiming the territories occupied by Russian forces in the eastern and southern parts of the country.
The $300 million arms package encompasses a range of crucial military equipment, including munitions for Patriot air defense systems, AIM-7 air defense missiles, Avenger air defense systems, and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles.
Furthermore, the package comprises ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), as well as 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds, 105mm tank ammunition, and Zuni aircraft rockets.
To support Ukraine's ground forces, the United States is also dispatching over 30 million rounds of small arms ammunition, reinforcing the nation's defense capabilities in a tangible manner.
